Courtney Frerichs, LIMHP, Certified Sex Addiction Therapy Candidate (CSAT-Candidate)
I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with my Master’s in Counseling in 2001. Since then I have been traveling the country while my husband served in the military. I accumulated counseling experience in various fields such as addiction, a psychiatric hospital, group homes, and private practice before returning home to Nebraska. I enjoy working with couples to help them restore healthy communication and intimacy in their relationship, assisting those suffering with pornography addiction, helping individuals facilitate a deeper understanding of depression, PTSD, and anxiety and how to achieve an improved level of functioning, and supporting both women and men with challenges unique to them as they navigate life. I also relish the opportunity to work with Veterans and their families thanks to my years spent supporting my husband while he was Active Duty Navy. Other specialties include grief counseling, aging matters, codependency, co-occurring addiction and mental health concerns, stress management, and parenting issues.
I rely on cognitive-behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing, and on creating a strong, compassionate and non-judgmental relationship with my clients. I believe people are courageous when they admit to needing help and continue to be courageous as they share their life story and personal and oftentimes painful experiences.
